APHA WORLD SHOW - July 3, 2002
During his final ride, Steve Orth "pulled out a hat trick,"
earning three World titles in last evening's roping classes. Aboard Sparksflyingcutter, Orth earned a Reserve World Championship
in Senior Heeling. The gray tobiano mare, by Shots Flying Spark out of
Divi Gals Prize (AQHA), is owned by Claudette Campagna of Huntsville,
Texas.

However, it was his two other
rides that put him at the top of the list. Riding Smokes Deuce,
Orth looped the Junior Steer Stopping World Championship. The 5-year-old
stallion is owned by Vicki and Dave Murrow of Blue Mound, Kansas.
Delta
Dare Devil and
the Guthrie, Oklahoma, cowboy won Junior Heading, placing first under
three judges and second under two. The bay tobiano stallion, owned
by
Wet Paint Farms of Omaha, Nebraska, was the
Reserve World Champion in heeling last year.

Orth, who trained all three horses, has been showing at the APHA World
Show for five years. His first Paint was Leahs Fancy Chick, who earned
the Oscar Crigler Cattle Award in 1999.
Along with competing in APHA shows, Orth also ropes on the PRCA
circuit and at AQHA events.
"If you make it back to the top 15
here, you've really done something," Orth said. "The
competition is really tough. "I was pleased with how I did. My
horses really worked good. |
