Do
your weanlings have a "work ethic"? Do they "crave" training
sessions and handling? Do they have a healthy combination of
discipline and trust? Do they move away from pressure and have a
"handle" and "feel" only trained and
finished horses have?
Do
they tie, trailer load, lounge, ground drive and accept
a girth and other invasive objects such as plastic, ropes and more?
Ours do!
(Photo left of "JAVA BLUE FLYER,"
featured at 2002 "FOUNDATION FOAL TRAINING CLINIC at APHA
National Convention). We get these
results from our original foal training program which specializes in
effective training from birth through weaning age.
This
is a unique program designed to "develop" a horse's mind to it's
fullest capabilities during the "foalhood" period,
(from birth to weanling age) by using a foal's natural curiosity and
attention span as a learning tool, reinforcing discipline and
increasing independence along with introducing necessary physical
skills like sacking out, response to pressure, tying, trailering &
much more.
All foals raised at Wet Paint Farms have been handled from birth
through weaning in this original training program designed to build
a foundation of TRUST, TRY, and TRAINING™ from
day one. |
This
foundation of valuable training exposes foals to a productive
learning environment, making all future handling and training
simple, more safe, enjoyable and effective for both the horse and
trainer! These pre-weanlings have a foundation of learning
skills and trust that the majority of older, trained horses have
never achieved.
This
filly (above) is choosing to enjoy a stimulating learning session on
her own, which is often the most effective way for foals to learn.
It encourages independence, prevents burnout
or pushing beyond it's capabilities.
Sessions
are self-paced
for foals to allow learning to occur within their
natural curiosity and attention span. |
|

The
colt (left) is pictured with an ace bandage around his girth
which simulates the feeling of a cinch. The plastic bag on
the foal's back
simulates scary noises and objects, which is a form of "sacking out"
for future training events such as the first saddling.
There is a BIG difference in a horse that has been handled from day
one -
with both discipline & trust in people! |
