Fort
Worth Stock Show to Host
Special Cutting for Paint Horses
FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 1, 2001 – For the second year in a row, the Fort
Worth Stock Show will host the "Color of Money," a special cutting
event for Paint Horses, on Jan. 14, at 2:00 p.m. The cutting is co-sponsored by
the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and the Stock Show. Exhibitors will
be competing for a total purse of approximately $25,000, with $10,000 in added
money.
There will be $4,000 added for Junior Cutting, $4,000 added for Senior
Cutting and $2,000 added for Amateur Cutting.
"As an association, we wanted to offer more incentives for Paint Horse
owners to enter their horses in cutting competition and give greater exposure to
these talented Paints," explains APHA’s Jim Kelly. "There are a lot
of great Paint cutting horses out there and this is a chance for those
competitors to earn points and money at the same time."
Judges for the "Color of Money" cutting include Tom Hastings of
Valley View, Texas; Jack Newton of Hempstead, Texas; Jim Calhoun Jr. of Fort
Worth; and Tommy Houston of Bluff Dale, Texas. The entry deadline is Dec. 1;
late entries will be accepted until Dec. 30. Premium books can be obtained by
calling the Horse Show Department at 817-877-2400. The Fort Worth Stock Show
will run Jan. 12 through Feb 3.
